Now that the concept of Pick and Pack is understood, we are ready to set it up.
The Pick and Pack workflow can all be done on one PC, but is usually done on at least two PCs. Let's imagine these two PCs:
Front Office (Step 1): This PC needs a label printer to print shipping labels, and will (probably) use ShipRush integrated with an accounting, CRM or ecommerce application.
Mail Room/Warehouse (Step 2 or 3): This PC only needs ShipRush, running in stand alone mode. That is all -- even a printer is not needed for Pick and Pack operation. This PC may optionally have a bar code scanner and scale attached to automate the weight update step.
Front Office PC: The first step to using Pick and Pack is to turn it on at the Front Office PC:
Go into ShipRush settings, to the Scales area.
Check the option to enable Pick and Pack.
If most or all of shipments, select the option to 'Default to Checked'
Close settings.
Now open the ShipRush shipping form.
Notice the new Scale Later checkbox:

ShipRush will require the weight to be set to 1, but
this is not the weight that will be sent to UPS.
You can now process shipments as usual, and if this box is checked, you do not need to provide weights or dimensions at this time. Labels will print, and tracking numbers generated as usual, however ShipRush cannot (obviously) calculate the rate for the shipment.
Mail Room/Warehouse PC: There is no required setup on this PC. It will simply use the ShipRush View Shipments area to update weights. Bar code scanner and scale setup is discussed on the Setting Weights Automagically page.
