SCAN Forms

AKA "SCAN" form, Bulk Acceptance scan, form PS5630, form PS3152 (PS 3152 is now obsolete).

Why is a SCAN form needed? A common complaint when shipping via USPS is that the tracking number may not be 'trackable' at www.usps.com for some days after the parcel is shipped. In many cases, USPS does not scan the parcel until a few days down the mail stream. As a result, the shipment does not appear at www.usps.com until some days after mailing.

The solution: This can be solved by printing out a SCAN form, which can be scanned by any mail carrier or post office. When the SCAN form is scanned, all the packages that fall under that day's shipping will appear at www.usps.com as having been accepted by the post office (which beats a message indicating "this tracking number is unknown!").

Generate a SCAN form by doing the End of Day operation in ShipRush.

Alternate Method To Create a SCAN Form:

a) Use ShipRush for Endicia as usual

b) When done shipping for the day, log into www.endicia.com (with the same account # you use in ShipRush)

c) In your account area, select the option to print out the SCAN form.

Notes:

Shipments processed after the SCAN form is printed are not included in that batch, and will not be included on a SCAN form the following day. If shipments are processed after printing the SCAN form, it is necessary to print the SCAN form a second time, within the day.

According to USPS: "The "cut-off" for items to be placed on a SCAN form is 7 PM PT, i.e., you should process all shipments AND all SCAN forms prior to 7 PM. At that time all items NOT associated with a SCAN form will be submitted automatically to USPS and cannot be placed on a SCAN form. Also, any items printed between 7 PM and midnight will be automatically submitted to the USPS that day. Items printed after midnight can be used on SCAN forms for that day (the "following" day)."

Note that as of 2007, the SCAN form may not include international shipments. This is being worked on, and international shipments may start appearing in the SCAN form later in 2008.
