Email - Understanding Options

There are two types of email that ShipRush can send:

Order Notifications are sent by the ShipRush Order Manager. If you do not use the Order Manager (e.g. if you use ShipRush stand alone, with QuickBooks, ACT! or some other system), then the only email available is the Shipment Notification

Shipment Notification: What is it?

Shipment Notifications are simple emails that are sent whenever a shipment is sent. These notifications are controlled by the notification area of the shipping screen:

No action is required on your part for Shipment Notifications to be sent. If an email is provided, and the Notification box checked (as shown above), FedEx will send the email automatically on your behalf.

Note that it may take some hours before the Shipment Notification email is sent. In many cases, the email is sent overnight, the night after the shipment is tendered to FedEx.

The Exception and Delivery emails are also sent by FedEx, and are sent automatically (if they are checked and an email is provided). Exception emails are sent if there is a problem transporting or delivering the package. Delivery emails are sent shortly after the shipment is delivered at the destination. These options can be enabled automatically in Settings.

Shipment Notification: What are the options?

The standard, "by default" option is that the shipping carrier sends the email notification. This email "just happens" when the Notification box is checked and an email address is provided. The email message that is sent is controlled by FedEx and cannot be changed.

If ShipRush is configured to use your own mail server, then the message is controlled by a template file that you can edit. To change the message that ShipRush sends, use the email template option in Settings:

An HTML file can be set as the notification template.

Setting the Email Server for Shipment Notifications

In Settings, go to the Advanced | Email area, and configure ShipRush to use your mail server.

Note that you need to find this information. ShipRush support does not know your mail server! Consult with the documentation for your mail system, and/or contact your ISP.

Order Notification: What are the options?

Order Notifications can be either simple text or HTML messages. Configure Order Manager email in the Order Manager Settings area:
