Operating Environment - ACT! 2005 / 2006 / 2007

The connector for ACT! requires that ACT! be installed and operational on the OmniRush PC.

OmniRush connects to the database via ACT! API and (optionally) via ADO using either

The difference in using the two connectors is merging flexibility. The greatest flexibility and reliability is via a Direct ADO connection. However, at this time Best Software / ACT! does not release the username/password for the MSDE/MS SQL Server database. As a result, Direct ADO is only possible if you are able to obtain the MSDE/MS SQL password from Best Software.

Do not contact Z-Firm for information on SQL passwords. Z-Firm is not able to provide this information. The only source of this information is Sage Software or ACT! technical support.

PAD files

The copy of ACT! on the OmniRush Server must be configured to open the production ACT! database on the network. Once you connect to the production database, a PAD file is automatically created on the OmniRush PC.

OmniRush uses ACT! PAD files to connect to the database. PAD files are created by ACT! when you connect to a database. PAD files are XML files containing information about the SQL server location and database name.

By default ACT! stores PAD files at "C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\My Documents\ACT\ACT for Win 7\Databases\", where %USER% is the current Windows user

(administrator”, “guest”, etc)

ShipRush by Z-Firm, and other Z-Firm products that work with ACT!

All Z-Firm products use the same ACT! plugin (see below for details). All Z-Firm applications can be installed concurrently on one PC or one network.

Generally, no action is required to manage the Z-Firm plugin, although it is your responsibility to uninstall (delete) the plugin if you uninstalling OmniRush.

ACT! version support

The OmniRush Family works with the ACT! 2005, 2006, and 2007 only. The OmniRush Family does not work with versions of ACT! prior to the 2005 version.

ACT! Database

Out of box ACT! fields can be renamed, but cannot be removed.

Note, that if a required field is deleted, it must be re-added to the ACT! database as the require name. Original, 'out of box' fields can be renamed, but deleted fields must exist as the original name.

Specifically:

The USER1-USER9 fields must exist, and have the stock field names.

The following fields must exist:
